Description:
Lygia Pape, brazilian plastic artist, admirer of Japanese wood engravings, begins her career in 1952, in Petrópolis , encouraged by her friend Décio Vieira. Initially self-taught, she gets to know friends such as Fayga Ostrower, with whom she learns more about techniques of engraving and Oswald Goeldi, a great source of encouragement at the time, visiting his studio at the Museu Nacional de Belas Artes (National Museum of Fine Arts).
