The band's masks, chaotic performances, extreme music, and deliberately confrontational imagery quickly established them as one of the more notorious acts in the underground metal scene.
Kenny's role in The Berzerker went far beyond singing. He was heavily involved in the band's music, visual identity, touring, filmmaking, and documentation, and demonstrated remarkable adaptability when circumstances repeatedly threatened the band's survival. During a U.S. tour, after drummer Gary Thomas suffered serious injuries and could no longer perform, Kenny took over the drums himself while continuing to provide vocals. He later compiled years of concert, backstage, rehearsal, recording, and touring footage into the four-hour-plus DVD *The Principles and Practices of The Berzerker*, which also documented the band's unmasked faces and contributed to their eventual decision to abandon the masks. Kenny continued directing the band's increasingly experimental musical approach through albums such as *World of Lies*, *Animosity*, and *The Reawakening*.
After The Berzerker became inactive around 2009–2010, Kenny moved into photography, although he never completely abandoned the band. In the years that followed, he helped revive interest in The Berzerker through archival material and new releases, including the rediscovered 2009 footage used for the 2025 music video for “The Deception” and the 2025 single “Shut The F*ck Up.” Most notably, in 2026 Kenny returned to the stage with Sam Bean, Matt Wilcock, and Todd Hansen for The Berzerker's first live performance in 17 years at the Necrosonic Festival, marking a remarkable return for the musician who had originally transformed himself from an injured drummer into the driving force behind one of extreme metal's most unconventional bands.
