R1 release is a condensation of an entire TV series into a movie (not made into a movie--editied down through simply cutting out parts), so obviously its not going to make much sense. It was originally called "Treasure Venture" for anyone who wants to seek it out. After watching this, though, I wasn't motivated to do that. It has action, but it seems like depressing generic low-budget melodrama and I didn't care for the actors other than Zhao Wei.

There's a fansubbed version, but only of some of the episodes. Also, the video for the first few episodes was captured at 10 frames per second instead of the normal 24.
A well-regarded series, but I think the only version of this that has subtitles is a fansubbed one, but either the quality of the original was awful or so much interframe noise reduction/bluring was applied that the result gave me a headache to watch.
There's a fansubbed version. Video quality is decent, but its clear that audio was recorded after shooting, which makes the experience seem pretty fake. Also, episode 16 is missing.
