TOP - 5 places for heli-ski

Sort by: Showing 5 items
Rating: List Type:
Bighorn Lowej, British Columbia
A chic resort located on a huge tectonic plate - that is, around the hotel itself there is a real snow desert, which you can explore all day long. The house is ready to accept groups of tourists up to 16 people, it has its own helipad (and several cars, of course), a French chef and other components of a good resort. English writer Everett Potter enthusiastically described this place as "Downton Abbey in a snowy entourage."
South Lakes, New Zealand
Unlike most of the peaks located in North America, New Zealand offers to try their hand not only to high-level professionals, but also to beginners. The resort is very conveniently located: quite near Queenstown and several major ski slopes.
Chalet Pelerin, Alps
Chalet Pelerin, located in the French Alps, was designed specifically for high-level skiers and snowboarders. Around three more French resorts were stretched. Guests of the Chalet should take a short walk - from the cottage to the Italian border, since in France, heli-skiing is prohibited in principle.
Chugach Mountains, Alaska
Just think, some three centuries ago, we could get into this reserve even without a visa. However, now the question of travel rests only in money. The endless snowy slopes of the Chugachsky Reserve have only one type of recreation: freeride. A large fleet of helicopters allows the athlete to get to the most remote parts of the reserve.
Alberta, Canada
This area can be called a luxury resort where the strong of this world prefer to relax. In the north-west of Canada, not far from the only specialized helicopter base in those regions, there are only 11 luxury houses. Here, for example, billionaire Richard Branson rested this year, who left a laconic entry in the guest book: โ€œThe best freeride in my life. Thank".

Heliski (Helisking), as a separate sport, originated in Canada. The first person who understood the prospects for the development of this method of extreme tourism was a simple mountain guide, Hans Moser. He and his comrades bought a used helicopter. This started the story of Canadian Mountain Holidays - the largest heli-ski agency in the world.

Only a dozen years it took a new sport to capture the minds of the best skiers, and then the planet snowboarders. The dawn of heli-skiing did not go without tragic incidents: in those days they simply did not invent either avalanche backpacks or compact parachutes. Now, without the necessary equipment, you simply will not be allowed into the helicopter. Virtually every noteworthy mountain peak of the planet has already been mastered by at least one company offering heli-ski freeride to all wealthy extremals. Of all the abundance, we tried to choose the top five best resorts, each of which is fully capable of providing you with good memories for a dozen years ahead.
