Top 25 Films

1. Taxi Driver (1976) dir. Martin Scorsese - In Taxi Driver, we're thrown in an unmovable seat and in raw fashion see through the eyes of Travis Bickle, taking his place and perspective. However his mind is an equation, a mystery to be delved with. One of the most brainpower-congested case studies ever stylistically executed in first-person format. Truly confronting and hypnotic- an atmospheric powerhouse of cinema and art itself. I will never forget this life-changer and inner-invoker, and it'll always remain as my favorite film. Everything from rewatch-ability to relatability, this film exceeds. It has come to a point where this film is just my flesh and magic-medicine.

2. Blue Velvet (1986) dir. David Lynch - It took me some time to truly accept, understand, and appreciate Lynch's approach to film and the whole 'Lynchian' essence of it. Overtime, the magic hit and Blue Velvet, in an instant, became my second favorite film. The enigmatic ominousness portrayed throughout and how certain elements of this film tie and rules in the viewer to engage as well. A distinct, personalized showcase of suburbia and sadomasochism. Lynch's horny, esoteric, psychosexual nightmare that will forever stand electrifying. If seen Lynch's whole filmography, you'll realize the actual dialogue in his pictures are excessively conventional and deliberately simple, however his way of cinematography, unalloyed imagery, and external plot/writing is sheerly full of eminent talent and distinct prominence, and that's what makes his film so nightmarish and confusingly otherworldly. A true visionary of arthouse cinema and Blue Velvet is his most surfaced and explainable.
3. 8 1/2 (1963) dir. Federico Fellini - The creative, subconscious mind put on screen for us to nakedly see. One of the most celebrated films of all time and is often praised to be one of the greatest, so before even upon me watching the film, I had automatic respect for it. And my high expectations were still exceeded. One of the most artsy, philosophical films ever. That combo of literature and cinema and the boost of amazing visuals make this one of, if not THE most poetic film ever. A mans desire to escape reality due to overwhelming realism and later shifts in-and-out of his fantastical imagination full of familiar faces to him. This film does it great in personalization and we truly, emotionally bond with the main character. A surrealistic dive into the director's mind. A warm-yet-cold, autobiographically bold abyss.

My personal top 25 favorite films of all time (so far). Films that have stood out and stuck with me the most and these unforgettable pieces will always abide by my liking-my 10/10s. I've learned a lot about cinema, filmmaking, and primarily myself with all these films and I will continue to cherish and love these films with all my heart to an unprecedent, high extent.
