As noted in the sidebar, I have not ranked Mr. Gilliam's work from his Monty Python years on the main list but wanted to include them as a completist and because they're brilliant. He co-directed MONTY PYTHON and The Holy Grail (1975) with fellow Python Terry Jones, concentrating primarily on creating the film's distinctive look and cinematic sensibility.
As noted in the sidebar, I have not ranked Mr. Gilliam's filmmaking from his time with MONTY PYTHON'S FLYING CIRCUS on the list but wanted to include them to be complete and because the stuff's so damn good. In this case, he conceived and directed "The Crimson Permanent Assurance," a live action short that precedes 1983's MONTY PYTHON's THE MEANING OF LIFE (and later intrudes on the Main Feature in an attempted coup).

My personal ranking of the films of the ingenious Mr. Terry Gilliam. As noted in similar lists, a lower rank does not necessarily indicate a dislike of the so-listed movie, just an indicator that I prefer other examples of the filmmaker's work.
Also in accordance with previous entries in this series, any films I have not yet seen are listed (with notation) at the bottom of the list.
In the case of Mr. Gilliam, I have also NOT included Mr. Gilliam's astounding work in the four feature films he worked on as a member of Monty Python's Flying Circus: he provided only his animations on "And Now for Something Completely Different," he was -- with Terry Jones -- co-director of "Monty Python and the Holy Grail," (assuming responsibility mainly for the film's look), directed one short sequence from "Monty Python's Life of Brian", and wrote and directed "The Crimson Assurance" a live action short that precedes (and later, attempts to commandeer) "Monty Python's The Meaning of Life"). Two of these are highlighted at the bottom of the list for a sense of being "complete."
