From the old days to more recent times, the symbiote costume has been the 2ndary suit to the OG red / blue suit that we all know and love, or maybe "hate" as Spidey himself, even years after getting rid of the initial alien out of his life, would dawn the suit whenever the time of serious matters came about. Spider-Man's dark side would come into play when the suit was on and anyone who dared stand in his way paid the price.
