Animals - Pink Floyd
...or as I call it, "Roger Waters' Big Middle Finger to Everybody." This is an acerbic songwriter at his most acerbic, and Pink Floyd's how-to guide on long-form composition in rock & roll.
The composition, as is usual with Pink Floyd, is deep and layered, and the words are biting, lyrical floggings of animalistic people in society.
"Dogs," my favorite song on the album (and possibly from the band's entire canon) is a metaphor for dehumanized, megalomaniacal corporate kings. I wish they had played this song at Kenneth Lay's funeral; nothing would have been more appropriate.

The Dark Side of the Moon - Pink Floyd
Mandatory listening; everyone who witnessed the death of the '60s and all its ideals should have been issued a copy of this album.

FLCL: Original Sound Track No. 3 - The Pillows
I can't understand a word J-rock group the pillows (lower cases intended) are singing, but I like their music all the same. Sure it's noisy, but it's fun to listen to. It's almost as if a lot of rock bands forgot how to do that at some point, but the pillows retain this quality and infused it into a fantastic and upbeat anime, elevating it with their presence.
