The most famous of this type, generally the point of comparison for all that follow.

The Historian - Elizabeth Kostova
A work which was a decade in the research and writing, it is based on the novel Dracula and personally I think it is a fabulous piece of storytelling but suffers from the fact that it came soon after The Da Vinci Code and thus can be easily compared to it in structure.
Dracula.

Cradle and All - James Patterson_II
Pre-dating the others so far on the list, this is more of a prelude to the genre. Fluff-thriller common of Patterson's previous works, but fits all the same.
Virgin Birth.
Virgin Birth.
tartan_skirt's rating:
A recent vein of popular fiction that deals with mystery writing with aspects of historical fiction and religious conspiracy.
