Best TV Comedies of 2012

This list was created by and in the opinion of Stephen H Koontz
Sort by: Showing 26 items
Decade: Rating: List Type:

Season 2

The characters can get annoying, so binge-watching doesn't happen; but the second season has surely improved on the first.

Season 4

This show bounces back after an iffy ending to a burn-filled season. Not that this season isn't full of burns, it's just a little less depressing and funnier with more Rafi.

Season 7

Still just a show about a man that goes to extreme lengths to keep his ego in check; but the antics are still fresh and plenty of laugh-out-loud moments.

Second half of Season 8
First half of Season 9 (Final Season)

This show really needs to end. It's still funny, but with Carell in the lead we can only hold fond memories of a show that was once the best on TV.

Season 10

Has a great staff of writers and the side-gags are still funny. He seems to gaining in popularity with a wider audience.

Season 1

I really wanted to love this show, and while it's very watchable and I look forward to season 2, I am left a little disappointed.
Season 1

Second half of Season 8
First half of Season 9

Best writers on TV, his persona has yet to grow tiresome.

Season 1

It's a little rough, but has enormous potential. A hell of a cast of improv comedians.

Season 2

Building well. Smart writing and fine comedic acting. Can't wait to see where this story goes...

Season 8

Continues to prove he is the best interviewer in late night.

Season 2

The seasons seem too short. There is a lot of story to tell here, and making us wait a whole year seems unfair. I love the characters and have good hopes this continue going up.

Season 2

As season 2s should go, this unique show has taken it up a notch. It's really becoming hilarious commentary on our modern society, more than just Portland's.

Second half of Season 3
First half of Season 4

I've grown to like this show more each year. I didn't want to like, but then I couldn't help it, now I love it.

Season 4

This smartly-written parody of hospital dramas continues to find new ways to poke fun of not only hospital dramas, but TV in general.

Season 1

First half of Season 3

This show loves being inane, insane and out of control, and I love Season 3 for all three reasons.

Second half of Season 2
First half of Season 3

His new show, now less new, is still proving Conan is the best overall late-night host, even if he hasn't strayed too far from his career-long schtick. He's become comfort comedy.

Second half of Season 7
First half of Season 8

"Puzzles" Bar
Martin Short
The Drunk Train
The Broath
Introduction of Quinn
The Magician's Code
...are all new reasons to continue loving this show; but then Season 8 shows a lag and it's kind of depressing how one of my favorite shows could end up being barely above average... let's hope they pick it back up.

Second half of Season 1
First half of Season 2

This show has quickly become a sharp, fun comedy with a cast coming into their own. Winston is now my favorite character.

Season 16

Reverse Cowgirl
Faith Hilling
Sarcastaball
Raising the Bar
A Nightmare on Facetime
A Scause for Applause

Stone and Parker continue to deliver with their topical barbs and commentary on our screwed up society.

Season 2

The Gallaghers up the ante in the second season, growing more shameless each episode.

Season 8

The Gang Recycles Their Trash
The Maureen Ponderosa Wedding Massacre
The Gang Dines Out
Reynolds v Reynolds: The Cereal Defense

...all future classics. This show has maybe plateaued, which means it's still dynamite and ridiculous.

Second half of Season 4
First half of Season 5

The second half of Season 4 is one the show's best stretches, with Leslie's campaign, guest spots from Paul Rudd, and an awesome Rambo recap from Andy.
Season 5 shows the show hasn't leveled off yet. It's still smart, poignant, goofy and refreshingly positive.

Season 3

Just when I think a comedy half hour couldn't get any better, Louis CK goes and pulls off a very strong third season. Louie has guest appearances from Robin Williams, Parker Posey and David Lynch. God bless this man.
