I've been a fan of the games that From Software has been making for quite some time now, and Bloodborne is no different. It does pretty much everything that I want a Souls game to do, and then some. It tweaks the formula a bit, changing up the pace of the combat, and moving the setting from the medieval to a more Victorian time. I also really loved the almost Cthulhu-like bits of lore that are sprinkled throughout the game.

I love this game. I loved the Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, and this game largely follows in that tradition. I mean, it does SO many things SO incredibly well. Great story, great characters, great combat mechanics, outstanding support from the developer, it looks gorgeous, and is well-optimized for pretty much every system it can be played on. I mean, it really does pretty much everything a video game can hope to do.

Well, here it is. My number one best game of 2015. This game really has it all for me. It was REALLY tough for me to decide which game deserved the top spot between Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Honestly, I think they are both absolutely amazing games. The one thing that pushes MGS V into the top spot for me is the stealth. I love stealth games, and this game is all about it.
I really feel like this is what Metal Gear has always wanted to be. A much more open-world style game. I had my doubts as to how this would work. It's certainly never been tried before in a Metal Gear game, but having the flexibility to decide how to approach each mission really had a huge impact. You really and truly do have free reign as to how to approach each mission. Day, Night, Midday, Loaded up with heavy guns, or Moving light, armed with only a pistol. Silenced or Loud. What buddy to take? D-Dog? D-Horse? Quiet? D-Walker? Or just roll solo? And here's the other great thing, you can change that midway through a mission. Just call for a supply drop.
I was also honestly surprised by the quality of the the story, and for once in a Metal Gear game, this story actually had a relatively easy to follow plot. I know this, because I actually knew what the heck was going on by the end.
This game also has quite a bit of replay value. Going through old missions, trying to complete bonus objectives that you weren't able to do the last time through. This gives the game some legs, and I plan on playing it for quite some time yet.
