Admittedly I've only watched one episode so far but I could tell it was a good show I'd need to put some time into one day.
The Facts of Life (1979)
Ladies will want to watch this just to oogle a young george clooney.
I had a slight crush on Tootie when I was younger, but who didn't.

Who's the Boss? (1984)
Technically Counts:
The female leads outnumber the males 3 to 1.5 (the .5 because the little boy is barely a leading character in the show)
Even though the show seems to center on the star Tony Danza, it's actually about everyone in the household. That is his boss Angela Bower, Her Mom, and his own daughter. Angela's son is a primary character as well but barely gets screen-time compared to the development of everyone else and how Tony interacts with them.
And to be clear Dani Pudi, As Abed Nadir, proved on an episode of Community, that the Boss IS, without a doubt, Angela Bower.
as of 2021 You can watch on Ctv.ca Tubitv or Amazon prime video

Amazing anime will pull you in to the world of high school drama, romance, and comedy. Don't let the first impression fool you. It's like 90210 the animation but better.

I Love Lucy (1951)
It's amazing. People laughed at this show before I was born, I watched reruns as a kid, and still to this day it's genuinely funny. Not an easy thing to do. They literally created a timeless classic. Lucy must have indirectly opened doors for all the women of Hollywood.

Murphy Brown (1988)
Not bad television at the time. It reminded me of a female version of the show "Coach" which was another good sitcom.

BoJack Horseman (2014)
Honorary Mention. Sure on the surface it revolves around a jaded, and troubled, narcissist of a man, however ...
Bojack makes the list because it takes many emotional turns, and deep dives, into the perspectives of multiple female characters. The characters are not 1 dimensional, and this all seems to connect with the female audience. I know many girls who watch and connect with this show.

Unexpected but true.
This show may not seem female-centric at first glance, with it's gross-out humor, coming of age school-boy perv-centric theme, and male leads, however don't be deceived.
The show is just as much about female coming of age, and self discovery, as well as sexual development, sexual identity, and emotional development for at least 3 main female characters. The females coming of age blunders and journeys are not sugar coated nor are they made out to be safe, or sweet. These are not sanitized experiences to keep in line with a "princess" or "sexy" image, but a comical, and shocking, perhaps gross, look at the not so fun side of growing up. Particularly for women.
This show may be controversial, gross, and shocking, but it connects with it's female audience. And I see it gives them a power to express a nasty side of themselves that isn't safe for the dinner table. I know many females who watch this show and I'm not surprised they laugh at the sickest jokes. It's probably a relief.

Not bad for a reboot of an 80's classic. All the much better that it's the original actress that played Punky in the 80's

You're the Worst (2014)
Very well done show with a satisfying ending. Really digs under the surface of it's characters and gets into the emotional and psychological depths of being imperfect and yet still trying to get and give love in this modern crazy world.

Sex and the City (1998)
HBO produces the best adult comedies ever, and some of the best shows ever am I right?
This is one of them. I would catch reruns on in the middle of the night and laugh at these feisty funny and fornicating friends.

I watched this in the 80's but even as a kid I was entertained.

Hilarious. A little left-leaning, hipster, and young skewing, but that's good because that's what it's supposed to be. It hits it's target demographics without alienating me. It's funny, fresh, raunchy, a lil gross, but realistic in it's unapologetic portrayal of real girls being how they are when no one is looking. This is a really good show. One of the best.

Better Things (2016)
Underrated comedy with serious and realistic themes. A tone very similiar to the Louie show with Louis CK.
It rewards the viewer who can pay attention, stay for the long haul, and wait for that pay off in every episode.
People with shorter attention spans, less empathy, and less life experience will not be as entertained.

Workin' Moms (2017) (2017)
On Netflix now. Must see. Good modern comedy about the daily lives of some realistic yet really funny and relatable moms.

The Golden Girls are the Golden Girls of female comedy. I don't think it gets any better than this. The bar is set by this show and "I love lucy" in my opinion.
THE_ORIGINAL_SHNAST's rating:

This is a collection of shows that have a woman in the lead, majority female cast, or females that I know love the show. These are shows I actually enjoy as well. You Go Girls!
