LAV, acronym for Lega Anti Vivisezione, is an Italian animal-rights association. Founded in 1977, it is recognized by the Italian State as an environmental protection association, a moral corporation and a non-profit organization of social utility (ONLUS).
LAV conducts awareness campaigns on animalism and animal rights issues through a network of 76 local offices, the commitment of 700-1000 volunteers and the support of 20000 members, intervening directly for the protection of animals and promoting legal action in cases of mistreatment.
