One of his most famous roles that afforded him the greatest International exposure also proved to be his most memorable and poignant where he's cast as a simpleton rural laborer (appropriately named 'Ah Kun') who along with his kinsmen in Thailand all fall victim to labor exploitation and treachery. Li's laborer/sojourner is identifiable by all symbolizing the collective perseverance and long-suffering of the mid-20th Century working-class Chinese sojourner scraping by to make ends meet aboard.
