He was the first to photograph a public execution in South Africa in the mid 1980’s. On July 27th 1994 he drove to the Braamfontein Spruit river in Johannesburg, a place he used to play as a child. He took his own life by taping one end of a hose pipe to his truck’s exhaust pipe and putting the other end through his passenger side window. He died of carbon monoxide poisoning. His"
