Kerry Alison Kelly was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, the oldest of 3 children of Keith and Colleen Kelly. She lived in Louisiana until age 15, when between sophomore and junior years of high school her family relocated to Texas. There she attended Lamar University, earning a Bachelors of Science in Communications. It was also in Texas that she continued pursuing her passion for equestrian competition, and has now been showing Arabians and hunter-jumpers for 25 years. In 2008 she met the man who would become her husband and bring her back to her home state of Louisiana the following year when they became engaged.
