Description: Julia grew up in Vancouver, BC with 4 sisters and 1 brother. She was always active as a kid and first discovered performing at a young age when she fell in love with ballet. She has had a passion for the arts ever since! This passion lead her to Vancouver Youth Theater at the age of 13 where she was part of a collective theater group that toured Vancouver’s lower mainland and eventually was invited to perform at the Aberdeen Youth Festival in Scotland. Julia continued to balance theater and dance throughout high school, joining the improv team in her last year. As one of the few women involved in theater sports, Julia and her Julia grew up in Vancouver, BC with 4 sisters and 1 brother. This passion lead her to Vancouver Youth Theater at the age of 13 where she was part of a collective theater group that toured Vancouver’s lower mainland and eventually was invited to perform at the Aberdeen Youth Festival in Scotland. Julia continued to balance theater and dance throughout high school, joining the improv team in her last year. As one of the few women involved in theater sports, Julia and her team won the provincial championships and placed fourth at Nationals.

It was at this point that Julia knew all she wanted to do was act. She went to the University of British Columbia and received a degree in Theater and Psychology. After she graduated, she spent a summer in New York training at David Mamets’ Atlantic Theater Company. Since then, Julia has been working in the film and television industry. She is most recognized for her Leo award-winning role as 2nd Lt. Vanessa James in ‘Stargate Universe’. Coming up, Julia has a leading role opposite Robert Knepper (Prison Break) in Syfy’s highly anticipated MOW ‘Earth’s Final Hours’.

Aside from performing, Julia has also been honing her creative skills behind the camera. In 2010, she co-created and co-produced a half hour single-camera comedy pilot for City TV. Creating her own work became something that she loved almost as much as acting.

In 2011 Julia formed Nine Worlds Entertainment, with her husband Peter Benson and their producing partner Ryan Copple. They have just completed principal photography on the feature film "Death Do Us Part" in which Julia is one of the lead actors. The Nine Worlds team has also been collaborating with BBC Worldwide Productions on a half hour comedy series. Additionally, Julia has been developing a documentary health series to be hosted by three time cancer survivor Meghan Black.

Julia spent the better part of 2011 creating, in 2012 she plans to put those creations into the world!
