Joseph F. Biroc, ASC was an American cinematographer best known for his work on "It's a Wonderful Life" (1946), "The Flight of the Phoenix" (1965) and "The Towering Inferno" (1974), for which he won the Academy Award for Best Cinematography. Biroc also served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps during World War II, where he filmed the Liberation of Paris in August 1944.
