Description:
American rockabilly musician. Born in Memphis, Burnette grew up in the same neighborhood as Elvis Presley. Having attended Catholic school, however, Burnette knew of Presley, but was not close to him. Along with his older brother Dorsey Burnette and friend Paul Burlison, Burnette was a founding member of The Rock and Roll Trio. Penned the song "You're Sixteen" (#8 US, #3 UK) and, with the Trio, recorded a version of the jump blues song "Train Kept A-Rollin'" which was subsequently covered by many rock groups in the 60s and 70s.
