Description: Sir John Whitmore (1937–2017) was a British racing driver and later a pioneer in executive coaching, remembered for his versatility on track and his influence off it. Born into a baronetcy and educated at Eton and Sandhurst, Whitmore began racing in the late 1950s with Lotus machinery. He quickly made a mark in endurance racing, finishing 10th overall and 2nd in class at the 1959 24 Hours of Le Mans alongside his friend Jim Clark. Whitmore became best known for his touring car exploits, winning the 1961 British Saloon Car Championship in a Mini and later claiming the 1965 European Touring Car Championship, cementing his rep ...
