He started in show business with Gus Edwards's "School Days Show" (1910).
A noted comedian in burlesque and revue, Marks was often billed alongside Bert Lahr and Leon Erroll.
Marks was critically acclaimed as Pappy Yocum in "Li'l Abner" on Broadway in 1956, a role he reprised in the 1959 film version.
