Jochen Mass was a versatile and respected German racing driver whose career spanned Formula One, endurance racing, and touring cars. Born on September 30, 1946, in Dorfen, Bavaria, Mass began his motorsport journey in hillclimbs and touring cars before rising through the ranks of Formula Super Vee, Formula Three, and Formula Two. He made his Formula One debut in 1973 with Surtees and later raced for McLaren, ATS, Arrows, and March, earning one Grand Prix victory at the 1975 Spanish GP and eight podiums across 105 starts.
