Jones won prizes in her appearance on The New Price Is Right (1972) game show before she made it in television. She also appeared on Match Game 73 (1973) as a contestant, where she won $5,000.
Jones achieved fame when she won $100,000 in the 1986 Star Search (1983). She was the first female comic to win on Star Search (1983) in 1986. Her one-woman show, "Girl's Night Out", became more than a hit -- it was group therapy for her women audiences. She became infamous on the stand-up comedy circuit for refusing to allow men to attend her comedy shows.
She was a former backup singer for Wayne Newton and plays the drums.
Jenny's biography, "Jenny Jones: My Story" was published in 1997 with 100% of Jenny's profits going to breast cancer research.
Jones established "Jenny's Heroes," a program where during 2008, through The Jenny Jones Foundation, she committed a million dollars of her own money to be given to individuals who use it to improve their communities. In 2009, Jones committed another million dollars for grants to people who submit the best ideas on how they would use the funds to make a difference in others' lives. Thousands of people continue to apply online and Jones reads every application herself, personally selecting the final recipient of each grant.
In 2006, Jenny's cookbook, "Look Good, Feel Great" was published and again, Jenny donated 100% of her profits to breast cancer research at City of Hope.
