Roots to the entertainment business go back to his parents, Charles and Elena "Jimmie" Redlick, who both worked at radio station WHN in New York during the mid 1930s. Charles produced a jazz program. Jimmie was the receptionist for Major Bowes' "The Original Amateur Hour". Friends of the family included: Lew Wasserman, Jules Stein, Lyle Wheeler,George Slaff (Samuel Goldwyn's attorney), Sidney Korshak, Sophie Tucker, Al Jolson, Eddie Cantor & Charlie Correll (Amos & Andy).
