Jaylee Hamidi was born in Shanghai, China to her Chinese mother and Iranian-Kurdish father. They immigrated to Canada when Jaylee was a baby and she has called Vancouver home ever since.
Jaylee developed a keen interest in acting at a young age after family friends introduced her to the film and television industry. After working on a few commercials, including for Ford and the Gap, and a small role on the YTV series adaptation of the Addams Family, young Jaylee's interest soon developed into a passion through the world of theatre.
Jaylee performed in various theatre productions throughout elementary and high school, competing with her friends in the North Shore High School Drama Festival in her junior and senior years. Both years the plays she was involved in were awarded notable accolades and awards. She was most proud of "History in the Making", the play she performed in and co-wrote with four of her friends in her senior year which won several awards. Between drama and her schoolwork, Jaylee was featured in Verizon's tongue-in-cheek commercial based on the popular Twilight novels by Stephanie Meyer, which aired internationally.
Jaylee took a short hiatus from her film and television career after high school to focus on her first two years of university. Being unable to quiet the pull and passion for theatre and acting, Jaylee resumed her acting career in 2012. Working two jobs, volunteering with non-profit organization The Project Limelight Society, and working on different independent film projects, Jaylee graduated with a bachelor's degree in Sociology from the University of British Columbia.
Since then, she has been consistently working across different areas of the film and television industry. With over a decade of experience, Jaylee has appeared in a wide range of commercials and popular shows across different networks, including the CW's Supernatural (2005) and Supergirl (2015). Jaylee has also recently had the opportunity to work in motion capture and voiceover for the video game Madden NFL 20 (2019) developed by EA Tiburon and published by Electronic Arts.
Also a writer, Jaylee has had her original poetry published twice in magazine publication For Women Who Roar in 2019 and 2020. She enjoys collaborating with artists across different mediums.
