Jai grew up in western Canada and started performing at a very early age. His mom, Yvonne recognized his talents at an early age and insisted that rather than play Hockey he be enrolled in dance and theatre. It was during this time that he began to shine in every production in which he was involved, and was most always cast as the lead or supporting lead. This continued throughout his public school years where he won many awards for both Junior and Senior actor in BC drama festival's.
