Description:
Tippit was a policeman in Dallas, Texas, who was shot and killed by Lee Harvey Oswald, the assassin of President John F. Kennedy. Police had been given a description of the assassin and as Tippit was driving his patrol car down a street he noticed that Oswald, who was walking on the sidewalk, fit it. He pulled over, got out of the car and called to Oswald, who pulled out a gun and shot him.
J.D. Tippit was born on September 18, 1924 in Clarksville, Texas, USA. He was married to Marie Gasaway. He died on November 22, 1963 in Dallas, Texas.
