Irving Berlin was a Russian American composer and lyricist, widely considered one of the greatest songwriters in history. His music forms a great part of the Great American Songbook. Berlin also served in the United States Army during World War I, where he composed an all-soldier musical revue titled "Yip Yip Yaphank", written to be patriotic tribute to the troops.
