Haskell Wexler was an American cinematographer and filmmaker, regarded as one of the ten most influential cinematographers in film history. His work includes "In the Heat of the Night" (1967), "Medium Cool" (1969), "American Graffiti" (1973), "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" (1966), "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" (1975), "Bound for Glory" (1976), "Days of Heaven" (1978), "The Best Man" (1964), "Coming Home" (1978) and "America America" (1963). Wexler also served as an officer in the U.S. Merchant Marine during World War II.
