The Xplosiv Triple Pack is made up of three different titles. The Operational Art of War II is an operational level, turn-by-turn combat war game. You can control a number of operational units in modern warfare, from 1956-2000, including most notably Vietnam and the war in the Gulf. The graphics only need to be very basic because of the nature of this game. There are a mass of commands and options, so you can get sucked into close control of all your units. If you are not careful, The Operational Art of War II could consume your weekend. Battle of Britain is a tactical war game, rather than a flight simulator. You control the Allied air forces and anti-aircraft guns, or the Axis forces, as well as head-to-head multiplayer options. Again, the game is quite detailed and getting to grips with your controls does take some time. However, once you are familiar with the game, it does get increasingly addictive. Chickamauga, the third and final part of this war game pack, is based on one of the bloodiest battles of the America Civil War. You can command the North or the South, or even both. The control window allows a great number of options. The battle is restricted to Chickamauga, which is very specific, and the soundtrack reflects this specificity. Again, this can be played as a multiplayer game, either Internet or LAN play, or via the built-in two-player hot-seat modes. Overall, this triple pack offers a range of games for those interested in tactical warfare, at operational level, rather than in real time or first person. It may be a little slow and the controls may be a little complex for some gamers, but for those fans of long-turn-based warfare, this pack offers exceptional value. --Chris Hall
