Description:
Offering carefully planned Russian, German, French, British and American operations, Sudden Strike offers an unprecedented level of gaming detail--everything has been thought about in this game: paratroopers, mortars and snipers to name a few or the best. Virtually everything is interactive, and to that extent, everything seems usable in some form or another; you can steal vehicles and drive your troops around or you could occupy buildings and fend off an advancing enemy attack.
Sudden Strike stands apart from other RTS games in one giant area in particular. The maps are enormous. Gone are the days of directing one or two men
Offering carefully planned Russian, German, French, British and American operations, Sudden Strike offers an unprecedented level of gaming detail--everything has been thought about in this game: paratroopers, mortars and snipers to name a few or the best.
Gone are the days of directing one or two men--in Sudden Strike you can well find yourself attacking a small farm with hundreds of men using the classic "pincer" movement.
The control is simple to figure and offers all the usual options, such as dividing your soldiers into platoons and directing them into your enemy. Sudden Strike is obviously, from your first troop movement, a tactical sim. Like many of its competitors, you cannot simply send your troops into the enemy lines all guns blazing--a simple Haig-style advance will lead to a rapid messy defeat. You must tactically plan and execute your attacks using all your resourcefulness and cunning.
With a game that offers such large maps, often containing a number of different settlements and a huge number of troops, things do get a little small and it is easy to lose people around the map. Consideration for such will not escape the mind of an experienced commander though. Supporting up to 12 multiplayers on four different teams, Sudden Strike has something to offer every RTS fan, if you have the time and the aptitude to approach this tactical colossus.
