Silk Screen Designs on T-shirts, Dresses, and More
The Style Six kit includes all the materials that kids will need to revolutionize their wardrobe. Two included silk screeners feature a clamshell piece that locks into place over garments (sold separately). Kids choose from a selection of eight large and small stencils, then use a sponge roller brush and a small sponge blotter to add designs directly to their garment. The kit includes four different colors of permanent fabric paint: blue, magenta, black, and red. To get started, kids should use the roller tray to cover the roller brush in a coat of paint, then insert a separator piece between the top and bottom layers of their garment to keep the paint from bleeding through. A small sponge blotter ensures that paint is evenly applied.
Mix and Match Colors and Stencils for a Unique Design
The kit includes a masking board to keep kids from accidentally painting outside the lines, but first-time designers may initially want to practice painting their chosen design on a blank sheet of paper. Once kids get the hang of it, they can experiment by mixing different colors of paint in the roller tray, or by using different combinations of stencils on the same garment. There's no limit to the designs that kids can make!
When choosing an appropriate garment, kids and adults should keep in mind that the included fabric paint is permanent. For best results, thin fabrics of light coloration are recommended. If a single coat of paint isn't showing up on the fabric, or if kids simply want to add another layer to their design, the garment should first be air-dried for several hours, then machine-dried separately for 30 minutes on a delicate setting before adding a second coat of paint.
