Street Skater Classic - PlayStation

Well you would be wrong. Based around a couple of skaters, you task is to guide them through the skate parks that lay before you. The courses, which start off very small, grow with you capabilities; once you've passed the easy levels, you will soon find yourself revisiting them again, but the next time other gates within the park will have opened, offering a whole new batch of ramps, rails and scenery to leap off.

But it's not just the courses that grow; each player is awarded bonus points that are earned through competing in bonus levels at the end of each park. These bonuses that can be added to any of your existing skills allow you to obtain jumps, tricks and even greater speeds that aren't possible at the beginning of the game.

The only drawback with this game is that the tricks you perform are all automated. However, if you are looking for a starting point to get you into the punk-styled skateboarding genre, then this is a good starting point, for the amount of key stoke combination learning is virtually none. OK, so it might not have the options that other great games have, such as Tony Hawk's Pro Skater or this games descendant, Street Skater 2, but what this game has got going for it, is its simplicity. --Stuart Miles
