Red Dead Redemption is Rockstar’s new (I say new layered heavily in italicized sarcasm because the game was actually released way back on May 18th) open ended, Western themed action adventure game that was released to raving reviews from just about everybody. I like how this game as so many different things you can do on it. Side missions, story line missions, side jobs, hunting. Along with being able to find treasure maps, collect bounties, and improve ranks in hunting and other tasks. This game is so much fun, I love just roaming around and hunting, I need to go and buy the add-on for this game too!

I feel this is the best game that Rockstar Games has ever produced, which is saying quite a bit, story and character have always been Rockstar's strong suit, and in Red Dead Redemption, John Marston is the pinnacle of characters they've created. Nothing is forgiven, and John can never escape his violent past. But the world is changing, and there's no room for people like Mr. Marston in it.

Red Dead Redemption is played from a third-person perspective in an open world environment, allowing the player to interact with the game world at their leisure. The player can travel the virtual world, a fictionalized version of the Western United States and Mexico, primarily by horseback and on foot. Gunfights emphasize a gunslinger gameplay mechanic called "Dead Eye" that allows players to mark multiple shooting targets on enemies in slow motion. The game makes use of a morality system, by which the player's actions in the game affect their character's levels of honor and fame and how other characters respond to the player. An online multiplayer mode is included with the game, allowing up to 16 players to engage in both co-operative and competitive gameplay in a recreation of the single-player setting.

Upon its release, Red Dead Redemption was met with universal critical acclaim, averaging approximately 95/100 and 94% on review aggregate websites Metacritic and GameRankings respectively, making it one of the highest-rated video games of all time. Reviewers praised the game's visuals, dynamically-generated music, voice acting, gameplay, and story, and they gave it several Game of the Year awards. It has ranked highly on several "Best Games" lists by various publications. As of September 2011, the game has sold over 12.5 million copies. After the game's release, several downloadable content (DLC) additions were released. Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare, which was also released as a standalone game, added a new single-player experience in which John Marston searches for a cure for an infectious zombie plague that has swept across the Old West. A game I've been waiting my whole life for

“I've been playing video games since the days a good driving game was a black and white-move in and out of lane-broken windows on crash game. And throughout the years I've been looking for a truly immersible experience that could drag reality out and place me in the middle of a different reality, as a different person. It took many years, but here it is: "Red Dead Redemption".The road was long. It took time for 2d to turn 3d and took time for the character's lips to actually move when they talked(big deal, as it added a ton for realism). Then incredible, photo-realistic graphics and my mind was blown away. Game mechanics became better and better and games could now tell stories with immense scope and depth.
