The Party Edition of Pictionary, unlike its siblings, lacks a board, dice and those tree killing pads and pencils ubiquitous in the other editions. Designed for play by two teams of any size, this edition of the popular drawing-oriented guessing game comes with a sturdy, hinged, two-sided whiteboard easel which snaps open for play and shut for transport. Inside, molded slots with elastic strings hold a one minute sand timer, two dry-erase markers and two packs of Pictionary clue cards. Outside are two scoring tracks marked "A" and "B" at the bottom of each side of the easel. So, rather than the "roll and move" mechanics of the other editions, in the Party Edition, the first team to twelve points wins.
The cards follow the Pictionary standard of providing five different clues marked with five different colors. This is fortunate because these cards are compatible with any other edition of the game, and vice versa. But no die is included for randomly selecting which color would be played this round.
This was intentional, though. Recall that one of the categories in the other editions is "all-play", in which both pairs of partners compete to be the first to guess a particular clue. In the Party Edition, every clue is an all-play, with both teams competing to be the first to guess the clue from the artwork drawn by their own team mate.
The rules - printed double-sided on a 5" x 6" piece of heavy parchment - directs one of the two artists to name a color before looking at the card and passing it to his opposition. The rules specifically state that the colors on the cards are not significant in the Party Edition. Overall, the rules are clear, concise and complete, even to the point of including care instructions for the whiteboard easel.
