Similar to Galaxian or Space Invaders, in Phoenix, you command a laser cannon, and you attempt to shoot birds from the sky. You have to kill a number of different kinds of birds (sometimes you just blow their wings off), then you must defeat the alien space ship by shooting through it and killing the alien pilot. Then you start over. If things get too hairy, you can use your shields to protect you.
