Other than the Rangers' ninja costumes and the bosses, the Game Boy version has nothing to do with the movie. The Yellow, Black, Pink Rangers in the game are faster and can jump higher but are weaker. The Blue, Red, White Rangers are stronger but slower and can't jump as high. The Putties are featured enemies.
The Game Boy version contains similar gameplay to the SNES version, though it is a completely different game. The morphing meter is retained but there are no unmorphed or weapon attacks.
