Massive RPG with a big amount of puzzles.
The story is interesting, keeps you going while graphics and sound are simple yet good.
The main event, the puzzles, go beyond mere button presses, sometimes some strategy is involved with bombs and arrows and more.
Also the battles are challenging, you cannot just run through everything, so keep your level high and it should be fine!

Lufia II is an RPG with many puzzle elements thrown in. In this game, the prequel to Lufia I, you are Maxim, a monster hunter. During your journey, you will find new party members, explore and conquer various dungeons, and solve many puzzles. Lufia II was an innovative game in many regards. It made extensive use of puzzles in its dungeon layouts. It also featured "Capsule Monsters" which would fight alongside your party in battle. They would evolve when fed weapons, armor, or special fruits. You could also gamble away your money in minigames at the casinos found in various towns.

IGN's Top 100 RPGS of All Time (2017) (100 games items)

" In an era of Super Nintendo games replete with some of the most celebrated RPGs of all time, Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals managed to stand tall. A large part of that was its lack of random battles in dungeons, a huge advancement that made Lufia II way ahead of its time. It even had a randomly generated dungeon, the 99-floor Ancient Cave, another feature of modern games that had yet to reach prominence at that time. Those elements combined with devious puzzles and an engrossing plot, earn L"

"I've heard awesome things about its puzzles, and that's the only reason I wanna play it. That and the lack of random encounters within dungeons."
