Karaoke Party - PlayStation 2

It comes in a box that contains two headsets, each with a built in mic, and a disc packed with three volumes of tunes to test your vocal talents. There's quite a broad range, with songs deliberately targeted at different sides of the gender divide, along with a few duets.

Suitably simple to get up and running, there's not actually a lot more to the package than plugging everything in and starting to sing. There's no evaluation of your performance, other than from those sitting around you at the time, nor any game to tie it all together. A feature that could play back bits of your performance is an omission, too.

However, that's not to say Karaoke Party doesn't deliver what it promises. The box declares that it contains "everything you need to enjoy karaoke on your Playstation 2", and it's hard to dispute that. Undoubtedly it's going to go down a storm when you get a few friends together, and it's quite good value for money when you factor in the included hardware.

Thus, while leaving scope for a more comprehensive karaoke title at some point in the future, Karaoke Party for now is an entertaining way to keep a group of people occupied. --Simon Brew
