This game is based on Whirlwind, the novel by James Clavell, which is set against the revolution in Iran in 1979. Caught up in the whirlwind are a band of free-booting helicopter pilots servicing Iran's oil and timber industries. Slowly they are drawn into the revolution and forced to carry out missions for one side or the other. In some cases, they eventually end up having to take sides. In Whirlwind, the game, each player is a mercenary helicopter pilot leading missions in the revolution for a fat fee paid into his Swiss bank account.
