Isle of the Dead is a mixture between a 1st Person Shooter and a Classic Point&Click Adventure. While walking through a level ind 1st Person Shooter mode you can examine certain areas closer and the game switches to adventure mode. The shooter part's 3D Engine is on Wolfenstein 3-D level.
