The goal of the game is to buy and sell cars from your used car lot. Using your copy of the Blue book, try to make as much money as you can. Protect your cars with various insurance and 'force' opponents to run into bad luck.
Cars that are obtained by players during the game are assigned a number and a "List Price." Players are given some cars to start the game, and may buy cars sight-unseen at the beginning of their turn, purchased from other dealer's "lots" during that player's turn, or by following directions of various "Dealer's Choice" cards.
While the list price of vehicles is the same for all players, each player also has a secret "Blue Book" value for each car which is specific to them. The Blue Book value of a car might be higher or lower than the list price. This is the value that counts towards a player's total cash value at the end of the game, so it is important for players to try and monetize (sell) high blue book value cars before opponents take them or protect them with insurance policies, and to sell low blue book value cars so that they are not losses at the end of the game.
Dealer's Choice cards allow players to make a number of moves during the game to either improve their chances or attack their opponent. Players are given a hand of these cards at the beginning of the game, may choose to use two of them as their turn, and pick a new one at the end of every turn. While the "positive" cards help players obtain good deals on cars, sell their high blue book value cars to the bank, and generally improve a player's chances of winner, the "negative" cards are used to force opponents into selling their vehicles, or destroy their cars with a variety of disasters such as fire, collisions and theft.
Besides selling cars to the bank, players may open their "lot" during their turn, allowing other players to make offers on their cars. The bidding process is somewhat complex, however it does allow for players to try and scam opponents for more money, but at the risk of being forced to pay a fee for "insulting" an opponent if they try to overcharge.
Once all of the Auto cards have been taken from the central pile of cards, and one of the players has completely emptied his lot of cars, the game is over. Players then add up their cash holdings and the total Blue Book values of any cars they still own. The player with the highest total value is the winner.
