Clue (1963) - Board Game

The object of this vintage edition of this popular detective game is for players to deduce which suspect murdered the game's perpetual victim: Mr. Boddy and with which weapon and in what room. Each player is one of the game's suspects - suspect's pawns are color-coded to their names. Starting with Miss Scarlet (Red pawn), players strategically move around the game board (a mansion) and collect clues from the other suspects in order to solve and announce who did it, how and where.

This 1963 edition includes Boddy Mansion's large folding game board, a red die, 54 cards (6 suspect cards, 6 weapon cards, 9 room cards), 6 color-coded wooden pawns for the 6 suspects, 6 weapons, Clue Secrecy envelope, Detective Note pad, pencils, and instructions. For 3 to 6 players ages 8 years to adult.

Clue (Cluedo outside the U.S.) is a popular murder-mystery board game. It was originally published in Leeds, England in 1949. It was devised by Anthony E. Pratt, a solicitor's clerk from Birmingham, England. It is now published by the United States game and toy company Hasbro, which acquired its U.S. publisher Parker Brothers as well as Waddingtons.

Several games, books, and a film have been released as part of the Cluedo franchise. The board game forms a chronology. Overall, several spinoffs have been released, some featuring extra characters, and for some, different game play. More recent editions have restored the name Boddy Mansion to the mansion, and say the mansion is located in Boston, Massachusetts in the year 2011 (originally 1954; located in Hampshire, England outside of the U.S.).
