Army Men 2 - PC Games

The control interface has been slightly modified from the original game, so you can carry more weapons, although the overall control hasn't been improved and can be very frustrating. There is also the inclusion of some new weapons, from the conventional to the bizarre, including a magnifying glass, for example.

One of the most appealing things about Army Men II is that you get to fight around other household objects, so you get a real feel for the scale of things. The graphics are reasonable and convey the toys in all their virtual glory, but nothing too ambitious is attempted. The game sound is very good, although the music does become somewhat irritating after a few minutes.

The AI of some of the characters is also bizarre, with some soldiers ignoring orders and some enemies who seem to be on a totally different planet. Overall, Army Men II is a fun continuation of the popular series, and will be loved by fans of the Army Men games. If you are new to them, starting with the original is probably safest to get a feel for the game. --Chris Hall
