Castagnole (Italian sweet fried dough balls)
Typical Italian sweet dough balls of the "Carnevale" time of the year, culminating in the festivities of "Martedì grasso" (Mardi Gras) before Lent. They are fried dough balls, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, sprinkled with caster sugar and flavored with liqueur.
