The hardest working man in show business, the soul godfather number one is the one man to look for if you want to really get into black and rhythm music in general. Brown had downright infectious energy, groove and universal appeal well into his old age, and he is regarded as one of the greatest musicians ever for a reason I would say. James Brown was so good even his flaws and mishaps usually made him sound better. Like if you take a metronome and play it beside his music, you'll notice how the tempo just goes back and forth from the beginning. That's the accidental secret ingredient of James Brown's magic. I love and admire James Brown, and so do pretty much every black musician both young and old.

5.7. Lots of people consider this album a sellout, but I just don't hear it. Post-Fish Marillion just sounds more minimalist and atmospheric than your usual prog band.
