E.H. Shepard was an English artist and book illustrator best known for his illustrations of the anthropomorphic animal and soft toy characters in "The Wind in the Willows" and "Winnie-the-Pooh". Shepard also served as an artillery and intelligence officer in the British Army during World War I.
