Description: Brown-haired, brown-eyed beauty, Erika Packard, is not one of your run-of-the-mill models on the modeling circuit who hail from the Western part of the Hemisphere. She comes from India, a conservative land where modeling is looked upon with disdain at times but a land where beauty abounds and this model is taking on the reins and showing the world that she has what it takes to make it in the modeling world and she seems to be succeeding. Her modeling career started when she was discovered while shopping in Bandra where she lives. The modeling scout who spotted her found her features interesting. She says that it’s her Irish, Brown-haired, brown-eyed beauty, Erika Packard, is not one of your run-of-the-mill models on the modeling circuit who hail from the Western part of the Hemisphere. She comes from India, a conservative land where modeling is looked upon with disdain at times but a land where beauty abounds and this model is taking on the reins and showing the world that she has what it takes to make it in the modeling world and she seems to be succeeding.
Her modeling career started when she was discovered while shopping in Bandra where she lives. The modeling scout who spotted her found her features interesting. She says that it’s her Irish, North Indian Goan heritage that sets her apart from the crowd and gives her that unique look. The camera seems to love her and like any good model, she is a chameleon. At times, she comes across as a screen siren, at other times an ingenue and then again she changes into a masculine version of herself and blows you away. The 22 year old Mumbai resident believes in the motto, “Have it, flaunt it,” and she does exactly that when she speaks about her life and her career.
When asked about her hardest shoot, she says it was in Cape Town where the shooting was done in freezing water with her wearing a bikini. Her favourite beauty secret is not a secret after all. Drink lots of water and control your diet and no junk food, she says. Sushi is her all-time favourite although she loves Chinese and Mexican too.
Since her venture into modeling, she has done a fashion shoot for Marie Claire and has done an editorial shoot for GQ. She has also done a fashion feature for Grazia. In April 2012, she graced the cover of Elle India together with Kanishtha Dhankhar, a former Miss India and it was plain to see that this model has more than meets the eye. She has also appeared on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar. She says Roberto Cavalli is her favourite designer and hopes one day to put modeling aside and try her hand at designing her own clothing line.
She says a model should have three pre-requisites, a beautiful face, a great body and the right posture. Erika Packard definitely has those 3 must-haves and one more to boot.
