While Benjamin first garnered buzz as a songwriter, collaborating on tracks with Bieber, Meghan Trainor, and Shawn Mendes, he gained wider attention after releasing his 2021 EP Emotional and songs like "Weatherman."
Born in 2002, Benjamin grew up in Australia in a creative family, the son of Huey Benjamin and choreographer Narelle Benjamin. He started playing music at a young age, and by his teens had formed the pop group Haze Trio with several classmates. The group won accolades, including the 2016 YouthRock talent competition. Buoyed by his early success, Benjamin moved to Los Angeles, where he continued to develop his craft, co-penning songs for several high-profile performers including Meghan Trainor, Earth, Wind & Fire, and Justin Bieber. In 2020, he made his solo debut with the singles "Diamond Eyes" (featuring Sia) and the Dan Gleyzer co-produced "Fuck My Friends." The following year, he gained wider visibility appearing in Bieber's documentary film and co-writing Shawn Mendes' hit "It'll Be Okay." In April 2021, Benjamin released his debut EP, Emotional, which featured the single "Speechless." The jazzy stand-alone single "Weatherman" arrived in 2022, the same year he joined Bieber's World Justice Tour.
