Description: Earle Hyman is a distinguished African American actor who had a 46-year-long career on Broadway, where he was nominated for a Tony Award. Hyman also was nominated for an Emmy Award as Outstanding Guest Performer in a Comedy Series for his appearance on The Cosby Show (1984) playing Bill Cosby's father Russell Huxtable. Born in Rocky Mount, North Carolina on October 11, 1926, Hyman and his family moved to Brooklyn, where he grew up. His parents took him to a production of Henrik Ibsen's "Ghosts" starring Alla Nazimova in Brighton Beach as a present for his 13th birthday, which made him want to be an actor. Impressed ... (more)
